JUNIOR SHAPERS AFRICA (JSA) FUTURE MEN BOOT CAMP 2019

The Junior Shapers Africa (JSA) Future Men Boot Camp is a transformative social programme aimed at raising young boys to acquire good behavioural values, social etiquette, communication skills, domestic skills, leadership skills, work ethic skills, negotiation skills, Godly values and personal self-discovery etc.

The Camp will provide your boy with an avenue to learn behavioural values, socialize with their peers and embark on field trips to companies to learn work ethic skills. The boys will have the opportunity of moving away from their normal home environment to experience a new environment with other boys from diverse backgrounds. They will learn new skills which will enable them to cope with life outside the comfort of their homes.

We will embark on field trips at corporate bodies to learn work ethics skills and also have mentoring sessions with indigenous CEOs from prominent companies in Ghana.

This year’s edition will be in two phases with New Participants (10-year-olds) participating for the whole 10 day period from 25th July to 4th August 2019. Previous FMBCamp Participants will join them for a 5 day period from 30th July to 4th August to share experiences, serve as mentors and offer inspiration.

JSA FMBCAMP SDGs PROJECT:

As part of the JSA Future men Bootcamp, the boys will be empowered to undertake a humanitarian project at Somnyamekodur D/A Basic School in Twifo Hemang, a farming community within the Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region in fulfilment of UN Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 5 and 10.

Last year, we embarked on the project in this school to donate sanitary towels to the girls to prevent absenteeism and curb future reproductive health problems that may arise from the use of unhygienic materials for menstruation. Upon our visit, some of the pressing challenges facing the school were brought to our notice and JSA has now decided to adopt the school for the next five years under our SDGs project.

For each year within the five years, JSA would empower boys from our FMBCamp to undertake a humanitarian project at the school that is in line with fulfilling UN SDGs 1, 4, 5 and 10.

This year our project is the “Library Project/1 year Supply of Sanitary Towels Project”. We are refurbishing the school’s library to promote reading and improve teaching and learning. We will also provide the girls with a year’s supply of sanitary towels.

Boys from the camp will be on TV and radio to talk about the project during the camp to help raise funds and increase awareness about assisting the less privileged in society. They would also be given fundraiser cards to assist them in raising adequate funds from friends and family for the project. Participating in this project will grant them a lot of exposure and boost their negotiation and communication skills.

JSA together with participants from the FMBCamp will embark on the trip to Somnyamekodur on Saturday 31st August 2019 to implement this year’s project.
